stopover in Amritsar

Many changes in my plans but I end up starting with the others.
The others are Martti, Ester, Kaarle, Kadri and Anu.
Start with Sanskrit language lesson and Slumdog Millionaire. The stewardess steals my breakfast.
We meet cheerful Raju with Toyota Innova and sizzling heat in Delhi airport and sleep until Amritsar.
Amritsar, the capital of the sikh country. Main attraction is the Golden Temple, built in 1604, second most visited holy site in India after Taj Mahal. Reunion with Kingfisher beer and tikka masala. Only one cockroach in our hotel room.
Next day we visit Jallianwala Bagh, the site of 1919 massacre and of course once more the Golden Temple. After a lot of young men have tried their English on me a passing old man volunteers to answer questions about the place. I don't have questions because I've read enough about the temple. It's just nice to sit and people-watch. I still ask if women can also go into the pool. There are only men. The old guy says that since women have given birth to saints and prophets they are no lower than men and anybody can go anywhere. Sikhs are rather tolerant.
No need of hot water.
In the evening we go and see the circus at Wagah border.

up to Manali
