Hanoi, temples and ride to the border

Hanoi seems like a nice city.
We visit some temples in the city and some outside. Outside are Thay and Tay Phoung. These are cool and old. I get an improvised excursion from a local lady who does not speak English but shows me what to do in a Vietnamese temple.
It takes two days on local buses to get to Dien Bien Phu on Vietnamese-Lao border. The landscape turns to spectacular. At some point I leave 600 dollars in a bus unattended and then transport them on the roof of the bus.
Dien Bien Phu is the place where the Vietnamese kicked French ass in 1954. As Uncle Ho demonstrated with his helmet turned upside down: they cannot get out, it takes time but they cannot get out.
