All the noise was a bit tiring although I did read quite some books.
Noise was the biggest surprise together with the massive smoking. The third surprise was the amount of green plants in Thessaloniki. In the case of the city the plants almost balance the noise. I was even a bit jealous thinking of the new buildings behind our house that have step by step hid all the trees in the neighborhood behind them, only two are still somewhat visible.
Before leaving the country we researched plastic cups, tried on all the sunglasses at the airport (bought none) and got an Icelandic crime novel that has been issued here in pure Greek. A foreign language should not be too big a problem when reading a crime novel.
