what to do in Lappland when it's dark?

Since nordic lights are visible in the dark I chose the darkest time of the year to go up to Lappland and have a look at these.
To make the long story short - it was clouded.
Instead I ended up walking in deep snow in the forest and doing an overnight sledge trip with dogs and two persons from the Netherlands.
It was fun and the forest was beautiful.
I learned that you need to be flexible for nordic lights and that includes having your own car instead of public transportation.
