I try not to touch the mosquito net while sleeping.
It seems that some mosquitoes were either hiding before or have entered
somehow during the night. I have a dream where someone asks me why I don’t use
a special box to keep the net away, wake up half-way, take the visitor’s book
and insert it inside the net between the mattress and the bed so it keeps the
net up and creates a small corridor. First time I’ve received practical
instructions in a dream.
It’s cloudy in the morning. I have to climb up to Sarafossen. Water
rushes down to meet Reisaelva. The trail continues up through blueberry forest
where blueberries are still green. Through birchwood where the trees crawl on
the ground before reaching upwards. Anthills trigger the same question as in
the swamps near Kautokeino: from where do they acquire the needles?
The only sigh of humans is the trail and the trail marks. Not much wind
but still less bugs. Some interesting plants. Big rocks to sit on and look
around. It will be a long day so breaks are necessary. Or should I walk more
and rest less to reach the end faster?
Snow-covered Norwegian mountains are left behind. Around me are small
blue lakes and green hillsides. Some ups-and-downs, some rocky stretches.
Finally I feel hot enough to dip into a lake before Somashytta. The rocks in
the lake are very slippery.
More and more mosquitoes appear towards the evening. In the end I
practically run to escape into the hut. Here the door closes properly and just
a few insects are inside. They have a nice habit to go looking out through the window
where they can be caught easily. It’s pretty cozy here after some cleaning.
31,3 km walked today.
