We manage to leave Foula.
It takes some effort and a vessel that uses 200
litres of fuel per hour. Diesel. Operated by a merry guy from Skye island who
has sailed on all the seven seas. First we land in Scalloway and get a lift
from there to Walls.
Around six we reach Lerwick, drop the car keys through the rental office’s door and wave to a tall ship that leaves the harbour. The city is full of people with a hazy gaze and short sleeves. It starts to rain.
