to kill time in the airport
Everybody else has already been to Thailand.

The flights are terrible.

Today's assignment is to drive to Sukhothai.

Some of the ruins in the neighborhood haven't been visited yet so we drive to Si Satchanalai.

We head north accompanied by cold wind in the bus.

There's a common eating area in the hotel where everyone can have hot water and eat their own snacks.

Early in the morning we board a bus very effectively. The bus is small and bags are on our knees. Luckily it's not a long drive.
Thailand gets complicated the moment you want to do something that a masstourist does not normally do.

Driving to Mae Hong Son takes most of the day.
a walk in the woods
In the morning at half past seven is no-one up to give us breakfast although we talked about it last evening with someone from the staff.
back to big city
Since there's no official breakfast we have a fruit picnic on our balcony with a view to the mountains we just climbed.
missed a meeting with a friend by four kms
We roll down from the hills towards Chiang Rai. It was also a capital for some time until the Burmans came, as always. The hills have for most part been chewed clean of forest, only trees have remained.
blue and black
Today are blue and black, white will come tomorrow. For celebrating 100 years of the Republic of Estonia.
In the morning Bee waits for us in front of the hotel. He's not an insect though, it only sounds the same.
back in the province
Nan is the most uncertain place in the whole travel plan. It is not yet clear whether it will be more like Daksum or like Attapeu.
We locate one of two tourist offices in town in order to ask for a multi-day trekking trip.

We drink coffee and read on our balcony. The taxi driver comes exactly when agreed.
first day in the forest
We sleep long, it is partly clouded. The plan is to walk to Bo Kluea for food shopping and on the way look at the Sapan waterfall.
second day in the forest
I would just go and have a look where does the trail lead that forks from the road going to the view point but Külli insists that we go and ask the rangers.
Nan, for the second time
The taxi driver arrives one hour earlier than agreed.
The hotel family takes us to the bus station with their car which is very nice of them.

To bus station in the back of a truck. First row seats on the second floor in the bus.
